L.A. deputy sentenced to 6 months for DUI crash

SANTA ANA, Orange County - Los Angeles County deputy, Robert Moran, was convicted for DUI caused injury of two people in a car accident. He was sentenced today to 6 months on home confinement. He was driving under the influence of alcohol.on June 29, 2008. He pleaded guilty for driving under the influence causing injury and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent causing injury. Both of the charges are misdemeanors DUI charges.

Orange County Police faces manslaughter charges for killing a couple in crash

SANTA ANA, Orange County -- An Orange County police officer is facing charges of manslaughter for killing a couple in a car when she was on duty and trying to responding to an emergency.

Orange County DUI arrest in Newport Beach on an Actress

NEWPORT BEACH, Orange County - Newport Beach police arrested actress Tawny Kitaen for driving under the influence (DUI) Saturday in Newport Beach. She was requested to give sobriety test after she was stopped for DUI or driving under the influence. She was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or prescription drugs.

She was charged with two counts of misdemeanor spousal abuse in 2002
In 2006, she was also charged with felony count of drug possession for drug possession of 15 grams of cocaine in Orange County.

Orange County Woman arrested for Grand Theft and Embezzlement

Aliso Viejo, Orange County - A former employee of Aliso Viejo church, Chrystina Bock, was arrested for grand theft and embezzlement last week. Orange County Police started the investigation of the alleged theft crimes a year ago when the Aliso Viejo church reported the case. It was reported over $200,000 had been stolen from the church.

Bock was suspected of stealing donations from the church and put them into her personal account since her joined the church in 2005. Police is still in the investigation of the Orange County theft crime.

Long Beach Man Sentensed to Life For DUI Vehicular Manslaughter

LONG BEACH - Orange County Register reports that a Los Angeles man, Cody Brown, was sentenced to life in prison for drunk-driving caused death of Jason Siebert last year. Siebert, with prior reckless driving record, was convicted of second-degree murder of Siebert from Orange County.

After the trial, he was found guilty with murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, all felonies. He had blood alcohol level of .22, three times higher than the limit of .08.

Fullerton Woman guilty of DUI caused Felony Vehicular Manslaughter

FULLERTON, Orange County - A Fullerton woman, Lynette Hunt, was sentenced to 6 years in prison Monday for felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She was also convicted of misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and enhancements for bodily injury. The blood-alcohol content was .15 percent, about 2 times higher than the BAC limit.

Newport Beach Man Arrested for DUI

NEWPORT BEACH, Orange County - A young man Howard Lee was arrested for DUI / driving under the influence Mon morning. The vehicle he was driving overturned and he was found trapped inside the car at Coast Highway in Newport Beach. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after his car turned over.

LA HABRA, Orange County - An Orange County teen relating to a gang was arrested with search warrant and arrest warrant Thursday for attempted murder. He was trying to stab a student at Sonora High school last week. Besides the charge of attempted murder, he could also face gang enhancement. Westminster Mom faces charges of Attempted Murder for stabbing

WESTMINSTER, Orange County - A Westminster woman, Thuy Le, a mother of two, has been arrested Thursday night for attempted murder and stabbing her two girls to death with a knife.

Former Pitcher charged with DUI

Newport Beach, Orange County - The former Baseball pitcher and Orange County TV reality show star Matt Keough has been arrested for DUI or driving under the influence of alcohol on Aug. 15.

According to Orange County DA's Office, Keough is charged with felony DUI / driving under the influence. If convicted, he could be facing 3 years in prison.

When Keough was arrested on Aug 15, he refused to cooperate with police for DUI investigation and sobriety tests. He had blood-alcohol content of 0.30 percent at the time.

UC Irvine Graduate Faces Murder Charge in Killing his Ex-wife

Irvine, Orange County - UC Irvine graduate student Brian Benedict has been arrested for the murder of his ex-wife, Rebecca Benedict. She was shot to death outside Benedict's on-campus housing this past Sunday.

The couple was in the midst of divorce proceedings and share joint custody of their 4 year old son. The couple got into an argument on Sunday when Rebecca was trying to pick up her son. As Rebecca was walking back toward the parking lot, Brian Benedict walked out with a handgun and shot at Rebecca. Police arrived very quickly after the shootings and arrested Benedict. His ex-wife was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Huntington Beach Resident's Murderer Arrested

Huntington Beach, Orange County - A man, Philong Huynh, was arrested for the murder and sexual assault in connection to the murder case of Dane Williams a year ago. Dane Williams was murdered and the DNA evidence showed that Huynh linked to both this case and a more recent case of this past summer.

Back in January of 2008, the body of Dane Williams, Huntington Beach, was found in an alley in San Diego, where he had been attending a sports convention, but had been missing for three days. Westminster Man Arrested for Sexual Abuse and Drug use on a Child

Westminster, Orange County - A Westminster man, Julio Cortes, has been arrested for sexual abuse of a young girl and compulsory marijuana selling. Riverside County Sheriff went to the victim's home Saturday upon a report of the sexual assault, and Cortes was arrested there.

Huntington Beach Driver Faces Felony DUI Charge

LAGUNA BEACH, Orange County - A Huntington Beach man allegedly driving under the influence / DUI is facing felony DUI charges after his car crashed into a barrier and the passenger in the car was taken to the hospital for serious injury.

Matthew Craybas was drunk driving this morning when his vehicle ran into a barrier causing the car to flip over and the passenger to be thrown out the vehicle.

Orange County Man Sentenced to Life for Drug Murder

SANTA ANA, Orange County - Robert Spencer had been convicted of murdering a Garden Grove drug dealer Jeff Mistriel in 2006. He has been also convicted of other felony charges.

Garden Grove Police Arrested Murder Suspect

Orange County - A man has been arrested in Garden Grove, California for the murder of Ashley Lilly, a prostitute, who was killed in a Garden Grove hotel room.

Fullerton Man Convicted of First Degree Murder of His Son

SANTA ANA, Orange County - A Fullerton man who drowned his 4-year-old son was convicted on Tuesday of first-degree murder of his son. A hearing for sanity testimony is held for next week to determine the sanity of the defendant at the time.

Gideon Omandi, of Fullerton, suffered from depression when he drowned his 4 years old son in 2004. However, court appointed Expert told the jury that she believed Omondi was sane and knew what he was doing at that moment with his son. Orange County Sheriff Dept Investigator Charged with False Police Report

SANTA ANA - An investigator worked with Orange County Sheriff Department has been charged with 6 counts of filing false police reports.

Janet Strong, started as a peace officer with Orange County Sheriff's Department in 1988, lied in the police reports about her investigation work on cases. Man Goes to Prison for Grand Theft of Valuable Artworks

NEWPORT BEACH, Orange County - Orange County Superior Court Judge in the Newport Beach Harbor Justice Center sentenced a man of Las Vegas to two years, eight months in prison for stealing over $260,000 in artworks a decade ago.

Joseph Killebrew, 51, was convicted of 4 counts of felony grand theft and sentencing enhancements for grand theft of more than $100,000.

In 1999, he reported to San Diego Police that his art collection and than $230,000 had been stolen in a burglary. He later received over $260,000 from his insurance company to cover the losses. San Diego County police is in an investigation for the insurance fraud about that claim.

He then wrote checks for some paintings over $261,000 from a few art Galleries in Laguna Beach in 1999. As soon as he left the gallery, he stopped payment on his checks. And he disappeared after that.

The Orange County DA's investigators finally found him and arrested him in Las Vegas in 2008. They also found at his home arrest all of the artworks he stole and items he claimed had been stolen.

He has also been charged in Los Angeles County with grand theft of over $108,000 worth of valuable paintings.

Under California law, Penal code section PC 487, "Grand Theft" is defined as the unlawful taking of other person's property valued above $400. If the property value is under $400, it usually can be charged as a Petty Theft, under California Penal Code section PC 484

Orange County DUI Arrests over the Labor Day Weekend

Orange County - 73 drunk-driving suspects in Orange County have been arrested by California Highway Patrol for DUI or driving under the influence over Labor Day holiday weekend. The DUI arrest last year was 67.

Other Orange County law enforcement agents also joined the force and made DUI arrests in cracking down on DUI and drunken driving. Orange County authorities have been holding more DUI checkpoints during the holiday weekend.

There were 35 DUI arrests at the checkpoints in Dana Point and Mission Viejo, and other Orange County cities.

Police arrested 3 DUI suspects in Irvine DUI check point.

10 drunk drivers were arrested in Newport Beach checkpoint for DUI or drunken driving. La Habra police also held DUI enforcement efforts over the weekend.

Orange County authorities stepped up enforcement on sobriety checkpoints.

Orange County Cracking Down on DUI and Drunk Driving

Orange County - There are more DUI checkpoints and patrols have been set up by Orange County Police department at this Labor Day weekend.

In Irvine, a DUI checkpoint was held Saturday night. There were 338 cars stopped by police and three drunken drivers were arrested.

On Sunday, 45 people have been arrested in Orange County for DUI / driving under the influence.

Drug User Convicted of Second Degree Murder

SANTA ANA, Orange County - A mistrial has been scheduled for a man charged with second-degree murder for killing his girlfriend when they were sitting in the car in Irvine in December 2002.

David Rodgers, 43, is facing a third trial on Oct. 19 for the murder of Jeanie Wheeler, 44, of Lancaster, in Irvine.

In 2005, his charge of second-degree murder was overturned by the District Court of Appeal.

Rodgers has been charged with other crimes before, including false imprisonment and grand theft. He was convicted of sexual assault in 1990 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

His criminal defense attorney argued in the trial that Rodgers and his girl friend both had drug problems and were methamphetamine users. She was killed during the fight for the gun.

Rodgers was on a meth binge when he killed Waterson-Wheeler.

Newport Beach Drunk Driving Caused Vehicular Manslaughter

NEWPORT BEACH - Orange County Register reports that An Orange County judge today declined to offer a guilty plea to a repeated drunk driver for his vehicular manslaughter in high-speed, DUI / drunk driving crash.

Jeffrey Kirby, 51, of Costa Mesa, killed a martial arts entrepreneur in a drink driving accident in March in Newport Beach.

He has been charged with four felonies, vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. He has been taken to Orange County Jail and had $500,000 bail on him.

Kirby lost control of his car while drunk driving in a speed of 100 mph and crashed into Lewis' Ferrari.

Lewis, of Huntington Beach, died immediately after the car crashed. Lewis' girlfriend, Lacy White, was seriously injured.

Kirby had prior drunken driving convictions in 1985 and 2002. And he knew that drinking driving / driving under the influence was unlawful and dangerous, but he still chose to do it. He had a .13 blood-alcohol level after the crash.

Westminster Councilman Convicted of DUI

Orange County - Westminster Councilman Andy Quach was convicted of DUI / misdemeanor drunk driving on Wed.

On Aug 2, he was charged with DUI / drunk driving, his car crashed into a pole knocking out power to about 300 homes.

Quach was sentenced to three years of probation, alcohol education program, community service, fine and other fees and penalties.

Quach was charged with misdemeanor DUI / driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the infuence with blood alcohol content of over 0.08 percent and an enhancement for having blood alcohol content higher than 0.20 percent at driving. He had blood alcohol content of 0.26 percent after the crash, over three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Orange County - An Ex-Police officer of Huntington Beach has been charged with 17 felony counts of assault and batter, threats, domestic battery, and vandalism. Fullerton Man Charged with Threat against Police

FULLERTON - Orange County Register reports that Police found several pipe bombs, guns and ammunition in the house of a Fullerton man. He made threats against police officer today.

William Hamren, 36, contacted police in the morning saying that his truck was missing from his home in Fullerton, said the Fullerton police.

A police officer showed up at his house, Hamren picked up a large stick and drove the officer off the house.

Later on, more police went to the house, they found shotgun and two safes filled with ammunition and the pipebombs in his house. Hamren was later taken to Orange County Jail.

Tustin Man Convicted of Sexual Assault at the Auto Repair

WESTMINSTER - Orange County Register reports that an auto mechanic has been charged with sexual assault of five women in 2007 during auto repair service.

Adrian Fuerte, 39, Tustin, pleaded guilty on Monday on felony forcible rape and assault with the intent to commit rape, and two misdemeanor sexual assault and battery and one misdemeanor battery.

He was sentenced to15 years in prison by Orange County Superior Court on Nov. 6.
Fuerte worked as a Mechanic at Econo Lube and Tune in Garden Grove in 2007. During the time, he lured women into his service and abused and assaulted them at the car repairs.

The first case occurred on Oct. 30 when Fuerte was serving on a woman's car and he reported sexually assaulted her, according to Garden Grove police.

There are five women reported the assaults to the Garden Grove Police Department.
All the five sexual assaults were reported to happen in the Garden Grove location.

Misdemeanor Sexual Battery, according to California Criminal law penal code section 243.4, defines as the touching of the intimate part of another without consent of the other person for sexual arousal, sexual abuse or sexual gratification.
