September 11, 2009

SANTA ANA, Orange County - A Fullerton man who drowned his 4-year-old son was convicted on Tuesday of first-degree murder of his son. A hearing for sanity testimony is held for next week to determine the sanity of the defendant at the time.

Gideon Omandi, of Fullerton, suffered from depression when he drowned his 4 years old son in 2004. However, court appointed Expert told the jury that she believed Omondi was sane and knew what he was doing at that moment with his son. If he is convicted of murdering his son, he could face 25-year to life in prison, or an indefinite commitment to a mental hospital.
